WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Fulcher released the following statement on the ongoing situation in Ukraine:

"In his first year in office, President Biden hurt US energy independence and the ability to export gas and oil to Europe, while simultaneously supporting Putin’s monopolization of European energy production through completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in September 2021. I fought against giving Russia this power.

President Biden continues to show weakness as Russia threatens to invade more of Ukraine; just like he witnessed while Vice President under President Obama whose indecisiveness led to Putin taking Crimea.

President Biden's speech is too little too late and only articulated to Putin that any non-NATO country is free game and that the “consequences” for invading a sovereign country are equivalent to a slap on the wrist.

Borders matter both in the United States and in Ukraine. Yet President Biden has made it clear that borders are meaningless.

This disaster has the potential to stir up the continent and embolden adversaries like China, Iran, and North Korea. American ‘boots on the ground’ should not be deployed. But it is past time to reverse Biden‘s domestic energy production policy so American exports can bolster our economy and reduce European dependence on Russia."
