According to the Idaho Department of Agriculture, agriculture is the single largest contributor to Idaho's economy, making up 20% of Idaho’s GDP each year. The importance of this sector to our state - and our country - is belied by the fact that Washington, DC often ignores their concerns.
Our national debt exceeds $20 trillion -- more than $60,000 for every man, woman, and child in the United States. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), by 2027 the U.S. will be borrowing an estimated $1.5 trillion per year to keep the government running. This is not sustainable; it is unfair to our children and grandchildren.
I am concerned with America’s ability to counter cyber attacks on the power grid and other critical infrastructure. These sectors are critical to the function of our daily lives and safety: communications, dams, energy, emergency services, food and agriculture, financial services, healthcare, water, transportation, nuclear reactors, among others.
