WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Russ Fulcher held a town hall update on Monday, January 15th in Sandpoint with roughly 50 constituents in attendance despite the below-freezing temperatures.
The Congressman started off the night by giving a brief legislative update touching on accomplishments from the previous year, and explaining what could happen this week regarding the national budget.
For the remainder of the night, Congressman Fulcher answered questions from community members on a wide range of topics. One of the biggest being the Southern border.
“The United States sees more legal immigration than anywhere in the world,” Congressman Fulcher said. “The individuals entering illegally are not coming with hopes of living out the ‘American Dream’. They are helping China bring fentanyl across the border. They are trafficking an all-time high number of women and children. They are known terrorists on the FBI watch list, and more.”
The Lower Snake River Dams were another big topic of the night as individuals expressed concern for their communities if the dams were removed. Fulcher assured everyone in the room it takes an act of Congress to remove the dams and he will not let that happen.
The Congressman also answered questions regarding Good Neighbor Authority, federal land, the national budget, COVID, and more.
Fulcher ended the night by telling the room answering questions and listening to community members' concerns is one of the best parts of his job. He stated is it an honor to serve Idaho's first district, and thanked everyone for coming out.
