WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Fulcher released the following statement on President Biden's State of the Union address:

"Tonight, President Biden described an America that few of us recognize. When he spoke of creating jobs and a growing economy this past year, American families remembered their paychecks shrinking due to record-high inflation. Disposable income fell by $1 trillion in 2022, which constitutes the second largest drop in real disposable income ever after the Great Depression.

When President Biden touted his electric vehicle investments as a critical tool to fight climate change, he failed to mention that just last week his administration banned a mine in a resource-abundant area of Minnesota that would help meet our demand for critical minerals. Instead - our country must rely on governments with poor environmental practices and human rights records to supply us with the resources to build the batteries for the same EVs that the president is touting.

And when President Biden claimed that our border was secure, he ignored the fact that December 2022 was the worst month for monthly crossings in Customs and Border Patrol history.

House Republicans are offering the American people real alternatives to the false reality that President Biden presented to us tonight. Our Commitment to America agenda will create an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that’s built on freedom, and a government that’s accountable.
