WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Russ Fulcher (ID-01) released the following statement after voting in support of the Republican rules package for the 118th Session of Congress:

“This framework will allow the new Republican majority to begin delivering on the agenda we promised to the American people,” said Rep. Fulcher. “I am proud to have worked alongside my colleagues to form a rules package that restores fiscal sanity, empowers individual Members, and provides a check on President Biden and Senate Democrats.”

Background:

The Republican rules package – which passed the House tonight 220-213 – enacts key rule changes, including:

  • Requiring the text of legislation to be made available at least 72 hours prior to a vote in the House.
  • Ending omnibus bills by ensuring that bills coming to the Floor follow new single-subject and germaneness rules.
  • Establishing a Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
  • Establishing a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Biden Administration’s Federal Government.

The full rules package can be read here.
