WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Fulcher received praise from Food Producers of Idaho for his support of the Trump Administration’s new Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rules governing navigable waters in the U.S.
Congressman Fulcher commented, “The Obama Administration's Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule was the definition of federal overreach and an attempt to control Idaho’s waterways. As I’ve followed water policy during my tenure in the Idaho state legislature, I understand that federal mandates do not work for Idahoans. I commend the Trump Administration for keeping their promise and reestablishing the appropriate state authority in relation to the Clean Water Act. This new rule will help Idaho farmers, ranchers, and other job creators so our state can continue to thrive as an economic leader in our nation."
Food Producers of Idaho President Stacy Satterlee wrote, “On behalf of Food Producers of Idaho, we write to express our gratitude for your leadership and support regarding the efforts of the Trump administration to issue the new Navigable Water Protection Rules. These Rules, which clarify the definition of “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) under the Clean Water Act (CWA or Act), are a significant improvement over prior regulations.”

In June 2019, Congressman Fulcher cosponsored Rep. Ralph Norman’s bill to prevent the implementation of former President Obama’s WOTUS Rules for another year. Although the bill was rejected by the democrat-controlled rules committee, Rep. Fulcher has continued his efforts to prevent the continuation of these rules.
