As of Monday afternoon, three of Idaho’s four congressmen offered their thoughts about the contents of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

The report was given to Attorney General William Barr on Friday. In a letter to Congress, Barr said “while this report does not conclude the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

Republican Sen. Jim Risch, who is a senior member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, issued a statement on Sunday echoing his previous assurances that the committee found no evidence of collusion.

“For me, there was no news in Mueller’s report,” Risch said in the statement. “We have reviewed thousands of documents including dozens of witness statements throughout the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation, and I reached the same conclusion as Mueller: President Trump did not collude with the Russians.”

Risch lauded Mueller’s work and called his investigation “straightforward.” Later in his statement, he criticized Democrats and the media, calling claims against the president a “charade.”

“Over the past two years, Democrats and many in the national media have made horrible claims against President Trump, have questioned his loyalty to our country, and have consistently assured the American people of his guilt,” Risch said. “They were wrong.”

It’s not the first time Risch has professed his support for the president. In February, he spoke with Fox News, where he said he’s “never seen the hate and vitriol against an individual that there is against this president.”

Risch ended his comments Sunday with a call for unity.

“It’s time for our nation to come together and move forward as one,” he said. “With the conclusion of this investigation, I hope the Democrats will join us in doing so.”

Republican Rep. Russ Fulcher issued his own, albeit brief, statement on the situation on Sunday.

In a tweet, Fulcher simply wrote, “675 and zero proof of collusion. It’s time for Congress to get back to work. #MuellersReport #Barr”

On Monday afternoon, Sen. Mike Crapo, also a Republican, issued a statement.

“I have repeatedly said this investigation should come to a conclusion without interference from either side of the political aisle,” Crapo said in the statement.

He later touched on his role as to expand sanctions against Russia as a member of the Senate Banking Committee and said he looks forward to reviewing Mueller’s report in full.

“The United States must remain alert and proactive in its efforts to thwart foreign influence in our election process,” Crapo said. “Now that Special Counsel Mueller has reached this conclusion, I encourage all of my colleagues to now shift our energy and focus toward our work to advance pro-growth, pro-jobs and national security policies that benefit all Americans and restore international order.”

Rep. Mike Simpson has not made a public statement.
