Fulcher Votes to Secure U.S. Border and Bolster National Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, U.S. Congressman Russ Fulcher voted to advance the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, H.R. 8752; the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, H.R. 8771; and the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, H.R. 8774

Following the floor vote, Congressman Fulcher issued this statement:

“Our country is witnessing an unprecedented national security crisis at our border that is jeopardizing the safety and security of every American. At the same time, we face a landscape of rising global instability. The world is watching, and that’s why, today, I voted in favor of three appropriations bills that will secure America’s border and bolster our national security.”

“Specifically, this legislation combats the flow of illicit drugs like fentanyl from pouring into our communities by providing robust funding for border patrol, equips our military forces with the tools and technology necessary to deter war by being combat-ready, and prohibits taxpayer dollars from going towards woke social programs.”

Background:

The Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act;

  • Secures our border by providing $600 million for the construction of the southern border wall, sustains funding for 22,000 Border Patrol agents, and provides $300 million for critical new border technology.

  • Saves taxpayers over $225 million by rejecting funding for electric vehicles and related infrastructure and prohibits funding for providing or facilitating abortions for ICE detainees.

The Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act;

  • Supports Israel by providing $3.3 billion for our ally to defend itself against terrorist attacks.

  • Strengthens our national security by prioritizing funding and policies to combat the flow of fentanyl and other illicit drugs into the U.S., and prohibits the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps from being removed from the Foreign Terrorist Organization list.

The Department of Defense Appropriations Act;

  • Promotes innovation and modernizes our military by investing in next-generation fighter aircraft, helicopters, tactical combat vehicles, and submarines.

  • Prohibits funding for the President’s climate change regulations or enforcement of the Biden administration’s executive orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
