WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congressman Russ Fulcher issued the following statement after voting to adopt the Senate Amendment to H.Con.Res. 14, a resolution which sets the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025 (FY25) and establishes the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
House adoption of the Senate’s amendment to the House budget resolution marks the next step in the reconciliation process, allowing committees to begin drafting reconciliation legislation.
“Today, I voted to get Congress one step closer to delivering a final reconciliation package that secures historic reductions to federal government spending and provides hard-working Americans with much-needed tax relief,” said Congressman Fulcher. “As both Chambers move forward in drafting the final reconciliation bill, it is non-negotiable that we prioritize budget reforms to ensure essential programs remain operable, provide border patrol with the resources they need to continue border security operations, and stimulate economic growth by rolling back unnecessary bureaucratic red tape. There is no time to waste. Let’s get the job done.”
Background
The House FY25 budget resolution instructed committees to draft a reconciliation bill that would:
-
Extend and expand upon President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in a deficit-neutral package
-
Require a minimum of $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings over the next decade
-
Provide the necessary resources U.S. Border Patrol needs to enforce border security
-
Strengthen national defense by making critical investments in the U.S. military
