WASHINGTON— Congressman Fulcher has announced the winner of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition as Autumn Eacho, a senior at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene.

Autumn originally created the winning watercolor for her father and chose an elephant because it is her favorite animal. Her goal was to portray the colorful personalities of elephants through her artwork.

"Congratulations to Autumn and all of the educators that encouraged her art skills to reach the level they are at today,” commented Rep. Fulcher. “I am proud to have Autumn’s art represent the State of Idaho in the U.S. Capitol, and wish her all the best on future creative endeavors.”

Autumn’s Visual Arts Instructor Anne Hedin added, “Autumn Eacho is a senior [whose] work in my class is always high quality and innovative. […] Her mild manner does not initially reveal the wonderful creative artist that she is, but her artwork speaks for itself and shouts, ‘I am an artist!’ I have enjoyed working with her this semester and am thrilled that her hard work is being honored at the national level.”

Voting is still open on Facebook for the Congressional Art Competition’s “People’s Choice Awards.” To view the art pieces and vote on your favorite, visit https://www.facebook.com/RepRussFulcher.
