Washington, D.C. – Recent flooding in Idaho has caused significant damage to homes, public lands, property, and businesses throughout the northern central Idaho region. U.S. Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and U.S. Representative Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho) yesterday sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging swift approval of Idaho Governor Brad Little’s request for a federal disaster declaration.
“While state and local agencies have responded admirably, the severity of this disaster requires federal assistance to help the affected communities recover from this tragedy,” the letter states. “We fully support Governor Little’s request for a disaster declaration that would provide vital assistance to restore critical infrastructure and provide aid to community members struggling in the aftermath of the severe flooding.”
Heavy rainfall during the week of April 7-13, 2019, has negatively impacted Adams, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Valley Counties in Idaho, as well as the Nez Perce Reservation. Governor Brad Little requested federal disaster approval on May 22, 2019.
