3rd Round of Economic Impact Payments - IRS is now sending the 2021 Economic Impact Payments in accordance with the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, signed into law on March 11, 2021. Taxpayers can check when and how their payment was sent with the Get My Payment tool. The first and second Economic Impact Payments no longer appear in Get My Payment. More details can be found here.

Taxability of Unemployment: Taxpayers who have already filed 2020 returns and included unemployment benefits are urged not to take immediate action to amend their return. More information on this coming soon.

Tax Deadlines

Federal Tax Deadline

  • The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service has announced that the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.

  • Individual taxpayers can also postpone federal income tax payments for the 2020 tax year due on April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. This postponement applies to individual taxpayers, including individuals who pay self-employment tax. Penalties, interest and additions to tax will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of May 17, 2021. Individual taxpayers will automatically avoid interest and penalties on the taxes paid by May 17.

Idaho Tax Deadline

  • The Idaho tax deadline is April 15, 2021.
